"Now…..when I was a kid, things were different.
A horror movie was classed as Monster Squad…lol But I am happy to say as I got older times changed and so did the movie scene….lol Of course there were amazing horror movies out before I was born, look at The Living Dead…..that was and IS a cult classic, but that was considered WAYYYY to scary for a kid to watch.
Thankfully we grew up, and things got better. We hit an age where we could watch scarier movies, so we grew into the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th stage, which I must say, was my favorite stage….lol Freddy Krueger became an icon for me…..lol I grew up knowing all the lines, all the character names and wanting everything Freddy. Jason was good too, but not as cool.
Then we got even older, and times have changed again…..lol we’ve been through Hellraiser, puppetmaster, and one of my personal favorites, PumpkinHead! And of course, these days we are starting our kids watching this sort of stuff earlier, and keeping them away from stuff like Paranormal Activity, poltergeist, anything that can be or was based on a real life story, cause we find that it may harm them to know these things are real.
Do you see the problem though…..We were subjected to small stuff and grew into scarier, and yet we start our kids off scarier and hide them from real life. I say, let em watch….lol I mean what harm can it do for them to know that stuff like ghosts actually exist. Would you rather them grow up being sheltered and IF something happens, having them in their 40s and peeing themselves in fear……LOL Talk about being ridiculed….lol
Horror movies these days have much better graphics, gore content, and try way harder to scare the pants off ya, and I LOVE IT!!!!! I can’t sit down and watch those lame horror movies where it’s classed a horror, but you do more laughing than being scared. To me that’s kiddy stuff and I out grew that at age 10. SO…what are YOUR thoughts…I wanna hear em. What do you think is considered too scary for this generation? What is YOUR favorite horror movie and horror villain, cause we all know, it’s the bad guy that counts….lol I just wish they would stop killing off all the hot guys."
